That depends on how old the TV is.
I just trashed a 12yr old 45" Mitsubishi that I paid 2K for, and
bought a 50" Panasonic Plasma for $700.

Looks like they were made in '04, but they are HD "ready", not an
HDTV.
Mits was the first to make a 40" CRT and that was back in the mid 90's
and they only made it for a couple of yrs.

Small/tint TVs are disposable - big ones are still worth the repair cost.
People are spending $1-2K for a decent size TV - that's not disposable. :)
